NBA 2K21 Passing Tips

Develop game sense while playing

Knowing when to perform a bounce pass or a give and go is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of a 2K game to understand.

Controller Settings

Having the right controller settings can make a huge difference in how you pass the ball while on the court. Set your Pass Target Profile to Custom, Target Direction to 89 along with Distance to 1 and Openness to 10.

This will allow you to be very dynamic, and your players will create many spaces for them to have wide coverage when they take their shots.

This technique will work best when you are either opening up space up close or taking open 3-point shots.

Calling Players to Receive the Ball

You can do this by pressing L1 or LB and pressing the player’s button that you want to come and receive the ball.

This is great for when you want the player to come up to you and take the ball. Although this will not advance you up the court much, it will still allow the original passer to make a run and then receive the ball once he is further up the field.

Controlling the Receiver

If you press R1/RB and then hold the player’s icon, you will control the player.

Move the player around and remember that you will receive the ball as soon as you let go of the button that corresponds to the player’s icon that you are controlling.

This move can be used when you are up against a great defense and want to make the run yourself rather than delegating it to the AI to figure out how to do that best.

Combine Dribbling and Passing

Try to combine the dribbling mechanics with your passing mechanics. This will confuse your opponents, as they will not know what you are planning to do next. A good player always uses more than one thing, and if you stay one-dimensional in this regard, you will have a lot of trouble trying to improve yourself later on.

Pump Fakes

Pump Fakes are one of the most underrated moves in 2K – defenders are more than likely to bite on one eventually, so get used to performing them.

Flashy Passes

Flashy Passes may look cool, but if your MyPlayer has an abysmal passing rating, do not attempt these as it will result in a quick turnover.

The Normal Pass

This will work for you if you’re looking to get the ball from one point to another with no one in between your players.

Bounce Pass

This pass works great on fast breaks or if you’re trying to get your ball to the postman. This is useful against smaller players since it’s easier to pass the ball underneath taller defenders than to throw the ball over them.

Alley-Oop Pass

To correctly execute these, make sure there is no one in between you and the guy you’re trying to pass the ball to, and they too are moving towards the basket and have adequate stats.

These are some basic and advanced NBA 2k21 passing tricks that you can use in the game and help you score points. Also, visit here for more guides, news, and tips about 2K21.
